Friends, today is the saddest day of the year. Want to know why? Well that’s because it is almost another full year to wait until that bastion of Bass Music culture, Outlook Festival comes around again.
But before we get too upset let’s look back again briefly at this year’s incredible festival!
SUBPAC were lucky enough to host our own corner of the site at Fort Punta Christo this year, in conjunction with the Knowledge Arena, a great new addition to the daytime event schedule run by the incredible CDR. We had a great time demoing to festival atendees, artists, producers both established and unknown and staff. One thing they all have in common though, they all came away wowed by the SUBPAC and its ability to enhance the experience of both creating and enjoying music.
Much respect is also due to our friends at Ableton, who donated their equipment and time to help aspiring producers to find their feet with the new wave of production hardware and software. It was inspiring to see people using the SUBPAC in conjunction with Live 9 and to hear all the great feedback from users.
Another great new feature of the festival this year were a series of production seminars and artist interviews. Run in front of a live audience as the sun sank over the beach each afternoon, these talks consisted of a number of respected figures from the world of Electronic Music waxing lyrical on their experiences in the music industry, their beginnings and production tips and tricks. Managing to be both inspiring and informative, we couldn’t get enough!
Phew, all of this and we haven’t even touched on the music yet. We’re sure your timelines and newsfeeds have been full over the last few days with photos and videos of your favourite artists killing it on boats, in ancient forts and in picturesque harbours, so we don’t want to go on forever but in no particular order we have to give extra special shoutouts to Moodymann, Andres, Boddika, Loefah, Barrington Levy, DBridge, Goldie & the whole Metalheadz crew (happy birthday!), Action Bronson, Jah Shaka, The Heatwave, Logan Sama and many, many more for fully blowing our minds with their sets over the weekend.
For those who couldn’t make it out this year we sincerely hope to see you next time! Massive thanks to Johnny, Andy, Simon and the whole Outlook crew for having us, Tony Nwachukwu from CDR for his support, Sennheiser for making badass headphones so we can experience all of this amazing music and of course to all the ravers who came to say hi to us over the weekend, you inspire us. SPREAD BASS!
