Mikey Lion

It all started with Wu-Tang & Daft Punk. What began as a hobby scratching vinyl at 13 has now turned Mikey Lion into one of the fastest rising House DJs on the West Coast. After honing his skills during a 4 month residency at Sala Razzmatazz in Barcelona in 2009, Mikey returned home with a love for tribalistic techie grooves and the passion to leave his mark on the world. Upon his return, Mikey became a Resident DJ at Lovelife, San Diego’s premier House & Techno party, opening for the likes of Lee Burridge, Noir, Justin Martin, & Blondish among others. More recently, Mikey has become Resident DJ at club Bang Bang, playing alongside the likes of Seth Troxler, Damian Lazarus, Cajmere, & The Martinez Brothers.

When playing club land began to get a little stale, Mikey searched for something more. Donning his signature top hat, his determination landed him a monumental gig at Lighting in a Bottle 2012 and a string of shows at Burning Man’s most prestigious sound camps. Brimming with inspiration from such life changing events, Mikey set off with his best friends and younger brother, Porkchop, to create a new kind of festival, one that was based entirely on House, Techno, and Love.

In November 2012, a band of renegades set off deep into the Mojave and Desert Hearts was born. A 70 hour no holds barred marathon of music, Desert Hearts has quickly become one of the premier underground campouts in the world with Resident Advisor calling it “One of America’s best electronic music experiences.” Pulse Radio also listed Desert Hearts in their list of “Best Boutique Festivals To Do Before You Die.” With a string of releases set for 2014, an incredible movement that Mikey is leading, and Desert Hearts Records in the works, it’s no wonder why Mikey was chosen to play The Do Lab Stage at Coachella 2014. Life has never felt so good and it’s only getting better…

Lee Reynolds

Originally from England, Lee Reynolds moved to California in 1988 to ride BMX bikes. After numerous injuries he switched his focus from one pair of wheels to another, and started DJing in ’92, quickly beginning to throw parties in the San Diego area, and focusing on the ambient and psychedelic sounds of the time.. an influence that will always remain.

Not content with just chillin’ out the newly dubbed ‘Dr.Indulgent’ began to explore the more leftfield areas of dance music, collecting weird records on frequent trips back to London, playing gigs up and down the West Coast, and appearing on early internet radio shows such as Groovetech.

Fast forward to 2014 and Lee is heavily involved in the Southern California tech/house movement, co-hosting the popular Desert Hearts, Tropical Hearts, Moonshake & Tribalove parties, playing at the legendary Moontribe and Lightning in a Bottle events, and often DJing south of the border. With over 20 years of experience under his belt Lee has never had more fun DJing!!!

Porkchop

There’s a wild Jungle, full of crazy freaks, beats and treats….a Jungle bursting with the sound of techno and booty movin bass… Spawned from a burnt turd, where the tribe leaders know no limits and the wilder, the better. And deep within that Jungle came the wildest freak of them all…Porkchop…

Jungle tribe leader Mikey Lion is an innovator of his tech-house sound, and it was inevitable that his little brother and best friend Porkchop followed in his lead. After being introduced to the ever inspiring duo Daft Punk in 2007, Porkchop began his lifelong love affair with electronic music. Shortly after, a trip to Barcelona sparked a change in Mikey and Porkchop’s ever evolving musical tastes. This new tech-house sound was emerging in all the house music capitals of the world and it changed Porkchop’s style and sound for good. The brothers began their quest to live, eat, sleep and breathe techno.

His deep seated techno roots eventually evolved into a shared love for anything tech, including his signature tech-house sound, those undeniable bootylicious beats he plays so well. Everything from his deep melodic sunrise sounds to his dark late night techno have officially become Porkchop’s signature sound. Jungle’s eventual pairing with San Diego’s purveyor of all things deep and sexy, aka Lovelife, spawned a mega family of tech house-deep house-techno loving Jungle lovers. That’s a whole lotta love, and Porkchop is at the center of it all.

Marbs

The only thing constant in life is change; a constant cycle of adaptation and rearrangements. The power to dictate how those changes affect your life is in your hands and in your heart. Undying hard work on whatever it is you love to do, a spirit of optimism, and always surrounding yourself with positive friends and goosebump-ilicious music is the key to alleviate the stressors of change.

Those principles run deep in San Diego DJ and Burning Man enthusiast, Marbs. Everything changed for Marbs during a music festival in college when he saw Lee Burridge at the civic center in San Francisco during Love Fest, back when they still brought burning man art cars and parades through the city. That experience changed his musical outlook tremendously and ever since, Marbs has surrounded himself with that deep, tribal, sexy goodness.

As papa bear for the Desert hearts crew and a resident sexecutive DJ for Lovelife, Marbs is continually on the cutting edge of deep house and techno music. Inspired by Burning Man, this playa connoisseur, along with his band of desert dancing junkies, host a slew of underground open air gatherings; including their latest endeavor, Desert Hearts. His sound can be described as deep, dark, sexy, and tech. With dream-like melodies and hard thumping beats, Marbs takes you on a musical journey each and every time he touches the decks.

Deep Jesus

Deep and Tech House are a form of religion when it comes to Desert Heart’s very own Deep Jesus. Being a co-Founder of the ground breaking boutique festival, his musical offerings have given him the platform to fine-tune the vibes of the underground. Driven by the anticipating ambiance of day into night, this San Diego native is known for his deep and melodic sounds.
