Any conversation about UK hip hop or R&B will not last long before Manny Norté is mentioned. He is one of the scene’s most respected and enduring figures thanks to his efforts as DJ, producer and presenter over the last few decades. It all started for him with college fashion shows, regular sound system battles and being a part of a dance crew. From there he soon started buying records and mixing, before long he ended up as part of a London movement of DJs, artists and friends called ‘Rotation’ who put on regular and much loved events in the capital. Fast forward to now and Manny is the go to tour DJ for huge international stars like Jay Z, Rhianna and Beyonce and has played all across the UK and Europe at the most esteemed night clubs. For his DJ efforts over the years he won a MOBO and can often be found playing BRIT Award after parties, fashion shows for the likes of Naomi Campbell and was recently invited to be the resident DJ at the F1 Grand Prix in Bahrain. Manny is also a Radio regular who has presented a weekend show on Radio 1 Xtra as well as being on Choice FM with a mix show every Friday night/Saturday morning, with regular live shows recorded at London’s Jazz Café and featuring guests like Roll Deep, Misha B, Lethal Bizzle and many more. Now found on Capital Xtra (formerly Choice FM) Monday to Friday, his experiences and understanding of urban music over the last few decades is unparalleled.
