Last week SUBPAC embarked on putting on our first VR-led event, organized by our London office.
The evening was designed around the theme of audio in VR. Our goal here was to showcase the importance of audio to the overall experience, and how the SUBPAC can be used as a vital periphery to add the physical dimension to VR. Taking place at Sink in East London, we had the pleasure of showcasing experiences from a selection of studios across the UK who are pushing things forward in this exciting and fast-moving world.
Our friends at Draw & Code showcased an innovative music video experience for the band All We Are, captured using 360 camera rigs and a Microsoft Kinect!
Staying firmly in music industry territory, Hip Hop group Run the Jewels recently premiered a groundbreaking VR video for their track ‘Crown’, our friends at Mass Appeal/Other Hand were on hand on the night to demo this visceral experience.
We have a bit of history with London-based studio Marshmallow Laser Feast, they were one of the first studios we worked with in the UK, and so it was a pleasure to present the mindblowing ‘In the Eyes of the Animal’ on Oculus Rift. You can currently catch ITEOTA on its world tour.
London-based app developers Studio Amplify were also present, demoing their music app for IOS, NoiZ. Cue some frantic remixing!
And last, but certainly not least we had a great reaction to Audioshield on the HTC Vive. This addictive rhythm-based experience had people jumping around the room with abandon!
Thanks to Tom and all at Scan Pro Audio and the fine folks at Virtual Umbrella for their assistance with the event. We can’t wait to see you at the next one!
