This May, we had the great pleasure of heading to Mutek San Francisco to present Immerse(d): Mutek.SF Digi Lab 3.2 at 906 World Cultural Center.
This intimate living room style event afforded us an opportunity to get deep into conversations, shared experience, low frequencies + connects in the midst of this MUTEK’s richly diverse festival offering.
The day began with a panel chat with artists Kode9, Robot Koch and Shiva which was moderated by co-founder of SUBPAC and StudioFeed, John Alexiou. In this laid back environment, we had the chance to delve into the artist’s personal and creative experiences; exploring the various dimensions of this world we call sound. We heard stories and asked questions of both our panelists and ourselves; diving deeper into the experience of deep immersive music and its effect on our emotional, physical and mental states of well being.
From there we took some time out, to tune inward and focus on the sound around and within, with a guided “tele presence” meditation lead by Daedelus.
Sound is energy, Music is universal,
Bass is foundational.
After that we broke out for network and experience of SUBPAC’s bass focused installations – all to the grooves of SF’s Dub Mission Founder, DJ Sep.
The day concluded with a brief Q + A session with West Coast Bass legend Ana Sia. We had the great pleasure to learn of her experiences in the San Francisco and West Coast bass music scene over the years. We also got the goods on her prep for the day’s closing immerse(d) set which she especially curated for our audience’s experience of low frequency immersion via SUBPAC.
