“Soon after I started using the SUBPAC my dreams changed dramatically. Every night now I hang out with scaly blueygreen aliens. They play me inaudible music that feels like a silent journey through innerbody sensations. I keep trying (and failing) to replicate their work.”
Hailing from New Zealand’s South Island, Fis (Oliver Peryman) produces physical, spirited, exploratory electronic music drawing from heartspace and headspace. While cutting his teeth on powerful soundsystems throughout New Zealand, Fis released a number of cultishly acclaimed EP’s, offering unique and visceral takes on rhythm-driven and cinematic electronica (see Iterations and Preparations EP’s on New York’s Tri Angle Records). His debut album The Blue Quicksand and Going Now was released last year.
The album was later named one of 2015’s best by Fact Magazine, The Quietus and Bleep.com. Fis is now based in Berlin working professionally as a sound designer and performing regularly throughout Europe. Outside of music Fis is a qualified and practicing permaculture designer and garden-farmer, passionate about abundant environments, food security and food justice.
